About NYWICI
Mission Statement:
nextBLOG is the online voice of NYWICI’s student members. NYWICI, which stands for New York Women in Communications, Inc, is a professional organization that empowers women in all communications disciplines to reach their full potential by promoting their professional growth and inspiring them to achieve and share their successes. As the student voice, nextBLOG’s mission is to empower future communications professionals to work toward their career dreams.
If you’re in school and aspiring to a career in communications, there’s no better way to get started than by joining NYWICI. We offer scholarships, career fairs, internships, and many networking opportunities for college and university students in the New York metropolitan area.
NYWICI Foundation Scholarship Program
The NYWICI Foundation, in conjunction with NYWICI, annually awards scholarships based on academic excellence, need and involvement in the field of communications. Each scholarship is valued at $10,000. Awards are intended for use in the 2007-2008 academic year.
See Foundation Scholarships for information and registration for the upcoming program, scheduled for 2007.
NYWICI Internship Program
NYWICI Student Affairs provides viable internship positions with some of the leading companies in the communications and related industries. Internships are an important part of educational and professional development and can greatly enhance the students’ skills and knowledge as they gain an entry point into their field of choice. In turn, the participating companies benefit from having access to some of the best and brightest young minds coming up in the industry. Both internship providers and internship seekers can submit listings on this site. A win-win proposition! To view the current internship listings, see Internships.
Networking
We often invite students to attend programs at a discount, and we offer monthly Cocktails & Conversations networking evenings on the first Monday of every month for only $11. For current networking opportunities at NYWICI, see Calendar.
Hi there.
I just found the NYWICI blog, and I think the organization sounds amazing. I’m a magazine editor/fiction writer in NYC–I’ve worked at ROSIE, ELLEgirl and Seventeen–and I’d love to be notified if you ever need writers/editors for networking parties, speaking to interns, etc.
My first book, Violet on the Runway, was published last month.
Keep me posted!
Best,
Melissa
